When it’s time to take the cardigan out again

It’ s one of the nicest times of the year. The hollyhocks are still blooming along the house wall, the grass has dried out after the summer, and the sun can really warm you up in the middle of the day. But as evening approaches, you can sense that something is about to change.

That’s when it’s nice to have a little knitted cardigan over your summer dress.

This one is so lovely precisely because it feels a bit like old-fashioned handiwork. The knitting is beautifully openwork, and along the cuffs and hem there are small crocheted edges. The front features simple tone-on-tone buttons, and at the waist runs a knitted band that can be tied loosely or pulled in a bit tighter.

The forest-green color almost belongs out in the garden. It looks lovely over a floral dress when the late-summer sun is still warm, over an old-fashioned blouse when the apples start to ripen, or with jeans and boots later on when the ground gets damp and the first leaves start to pile up along the roadsides.

A little fall cardigan for that in-between time—when you still want to be outside but like to bring along something knitted.
